Jacksonville voters dramatically altered the structure of local government
in the late 1960's when they approved the consolidation of city and county
governments. To match its huge size in square miles a large, efficient
Jacksonville local government has succeeded in attracting business, cleaning
up the environment and managing growth while serving its citizens well.
