Jacksonville's public utilities operate on a multi-county basis like the
local government. While not a public utility, Comcast, the Jacksonville cable provider, has been included here. (That's one
of those first calls one makes in a new city.) The recent merger of AT&T and Com
Cast assures the swift upgrade of cable, phone and internet services to the
area. The Jacksonville Electric Authority,
(JEA), is the central provider for electric, water, garbage and sewage services.
Gas is provided by several independent companies.
